MARTHA HACHMEISTER CHERRY FUND SUPPORTS BIRCH CREEK'S CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Birch Creek Music Performance Center, Egg Harbor, has received a generous gift from The Martha Hachmeister Cherry estate of Ephraim, Executive Director Kaye Wagner announced recently.
"The purpose of Martha Cherry's legacy is to recognize organizations that have, and will continue to, enrich the Door County she treasured," noted Wagner. The Cherry estate gift will support Birch Creek's current plan to build 3 new buildings on its 40-acre campus outside Egg Harbor. But Wagner is careful to explain, "While the new buildings will allow Birch Creek to provide off-season community services and events, the buildings will not replace the barn during the summer." The 100-year-old Dutton Concert Barn, a legacy in itself, will remain the primary concert hall and focal point of the music school's campus. (See Site map, below.) The mingling of Door County's past with the community's future growth is part of Birch Creek leaders' long-range planning, and now also part of Martha Cherry's lasting legacy. |
