The walls and roof are up, and shingles are on the one-story section of the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm as work continues on the two-story vaulted ceiling of the large rehearsal hall.

CUPOLA ON THE REHEARSAL FACILITY

The cupola atop the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm is framed in by mid-morning before Thanksgiving.

With the cupola framed in, the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm now resembles the digital rendering (above) that has for so many months been a part of our imaginations...and our dreams.

WINTER, POWER, AND THE WALKWAY

December 3, 2007
Looking east

The first snowstorm of the winter hit Door County on Saturday, December 1, bringing heavy snow and high winds. Monday, December 3, dawned sunny but chilly (low of 13), and construction moved ahead at a brisk pace.

To establish electrical service to the new portion of the campus and retain environmental integrity, lines from the public service pole were buried underground in a trench running under Highway E and onto the campus. The lines come above ground on a service pole near Woody's Woodshed.

The student dormitory wing is visible on the left, and the Maintenance Facility is in the background (with the cupola.)

The forms have been poured for the covered walkway that will connect the Dutton Concert Barn with the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm.

Also notice the completed cupola atom the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm.

FACULTY HOUSING

December 28, 2007
Looking south

The Faculty Housing Facility takes shape as the framing is completed and the builders turn their attention to the roof and walls. It has snowed frequently so far this winter, and it is bone-chilling cold.

On December 20, as a holiday thank you, the Birch Creek staff held a chili and soup lunch in the dining room for the work crews.

Standing in front of the Faculty Housing Facility and facing the campus gives us a view of the completed Maintenance Facility (left), and beyond it, the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm.

JUNIPER HALL

December 28, 2007

We are standing in Juniper Hall, the largest rehearsal space and the central point of the Rehearsal Facility / Student Dorm. Plumbing, electrical wiring, and communications wiring are either completed or have been planned for and will be completed soon. The large white spaces where the roof meets the walls are windows, allowing for plenty of natural light.
