Betty Lewis

Betty Lewis received her B.M. from Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University as a student of Elaine Skorodin. She’s an active violinist and violist in the Chicago area, serving as concertmaster of the Bach Cantata series at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest. Lewis substitutes with the Chicago and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras and performs in Broadway in Chicago productions. Summers find her in Door County where she’s on faculty at Birch Creek and a member of the Peninsula Music Festival. Lewis maintains a private teaching studio at home. At Grace Lutheran School in River Forest, she teaches violin and viola lessons, and conducts the orchestra. She is also the violin, viola and ensemble teacher at the Chicago School of Violin Making. 2024 marks Lewis’ 30th year at Birch Creek.
