Peter Naughton

Peter Naughton is a percussionist, composer, and educator. He is a versatile performer, specializing in keyboard literature, improvisation, and contemporary chamber music. Naughton holds degrees from The University of Iowa (BM – 2014, DMA – 2020) and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (MM – 2016). His music is a rich blend of commercial and classical sensibilities. He has written extensively for solo marimba, steel pan, and percussion ensemble. Several of his works are published through Tapspace Publications and are regularly performed throughout the country, including performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. In May 2020, Naughton released his first studio album, SOUTHERN GOTHIC, an eclectic collection of original works which explore the intersection of composition and improvisation. He currently teaches percussion and music theory at The University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Since June 2016, Naughton has served as a percussion faculty member for Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Door County, WI.
