Steven Duncan
Trombone | Chicago, IL
Originally from South Florida, Steven Duncan migrated north to study trombone performance and music theory at Northwestern University. After graduating with his M.M., he spent the better part of a decade traveling with various big bands, orchestras, and Broadway tours, playing venues from Seattle’s Benaroya Hall to New York’s Lincoln Center, and many more in between. Now settled in Chicago, Steven is on the faculty at Northeastern Illinois University. He has played with the Rockford Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, and most of the major theater orchestras in the Chicagoland region. Steven plays with many chamber groups, including the Alliance Brass Quintet, which will be featured this Summer performing at Italian Brass Week in Florence, Italy. When not performing or teaching, Steven enjoys tending to his beehives on a small urban farm in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood.
