American violist Matthew Lipman, praised for his “rich tone and elegant phrasing” (New York Times), is one of the most sought-after musicians of his generation. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician with top orchestras, at renowned venues like Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall, and collaborated with leading conductors and artists. A champion of living composers, he regularly premieres new works and has released acclaimed recordings, including Ascent and The Dvořák Album. A faculty member at Stony Brook University, Lipman studied at Juilliard and Kronberg Academy and performs on a 2021 viola by Samuel Zygmuntowicz.
