Birch Creek Opens the 2024 Season with “Percussion at the Disco: I just want to celebrate the 70s!”

EGG HARBOR, Wis. (June 3, 2024) – On Thursday, June 20, Birch Creek Music Performance Center will present its opening night concert – “Percussion at the Disco: I just want to celebrate the 70s!” – on the Stage of Stars inside the historic Dutton Concert Barn. Opening night at Birch Creek is a festive gathering of donors, faculty, students, concertgoers, volunteers and businesses celebrating the much-anticipated 2024 season of Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music; Symphony and Big Band Jazz concerts. This year marks Birch Creek’s 49th season of excellence in music education and world-class concert performances.

Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music launches the first two weeks of the 2024 season with concerts featuring faculty performing artists and advanced student musicians. These exceptional professional musicians come together once a year at Birch Creek and perform a wide array of musical styles, including Caribbean steel pan, standard percussion ensembles, classic jazz, world percussion, rearrangements of commercial and popular contemporary pieces, and new music. Dan Moore, Professor of Percussion at University of Iowa, will return for his 26th season and his ninth year as Program Director of the Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music session.

After the opening night, the first week of concerts continues with “Holiday for Percussion” on Friday, June 21 and a matinee performance “Percussion at the Disco: I Just Want to Celebrate the 70s!” on Saturday, June 22, at 3:00 PM. The Thursday, June 27 concert showcases “Holiday for Percussion.” A matinee and evening performance on Friday, June 28 will present Caribbean Cruise with Steel Pan Super Star Victor Provost. Provost is also the highlighted performer for the James R. Dutton Memorial Concert at 7:00 PM on closing night, June 29.

Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music concerts, including opening night, start at 7:00 PM with student prelude music from the Kane Gazebo at 6:30 PM. Tickets are available for purchase online at BirchCreek.org/Tickets or by phone at (920) 868-3763. Prices are $33 for adults, $10 for students, and $6 for children (11 and under). Premium seating is also available in the front-center section of the Dutton Concert Barn, priced at $40 for all ages. Group rates are also available for parties of 10 or more.
