Birch Creek Welcomes New Board Members, Honors Outgoing Members
EGG HARBOR, Wis. (October 23, 2024) – Birch Creek is pleased to announce the appointment of three members to its 18-member Board of Trustees.
Donna Altepeter joins the Birch Creek Board for the first time, effective as of the October 2024 Board meeting. Originally from St. Louis, Donna has been a long-time visitor to Door County and Birch Creek concerts. Now a resident of Sturgeon Bay, she brings her expertise as a retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker, having worked in hospital, hospice, and behavioral health settings. She also continues a small part-time psychotherapy practice. Donna is passionate about music, having led a jazz trio and been involved in music throughout her life. Her dedication to volunteering includes serving on several nonprofit boards, and she looks forward to supporting Birch Creek’s enduring mission.
Tammie Grossman is also a new addition to the Birch Creek Board of Trustees. She recently retired to Door County after a 35+ year career in community economic development. Tammie has held leadership roles at organizations like Housing Action Illinois and the Village of Oak Park, where she facilitated over $750 million in community investments. With a strong background in fundraising, grant management, and non-profit leadership, Tammie brings a wealth of experience to Birch Creek. Having been a visitor to Door County for over 30 years, Birch Creek concerts have always been part of her trips, and now she’s excited to serve in this new capacity.
Greg Britton returns to the Birch Creek Board as a former member. Greg has an extensive background in healthcare leadership, having served as President and CEO of Beloit Health System and Beloit Memorial Hospital for many years. He is currently the founder and CEO of Britton Advisory Advantage, a firm specializing in strategic planning, governance, succession planning, leadership development/coaching, and fundraising. Greg’s deep involvement in non-profit governance and economic development will be an asset to the board. His long-standing commitment to Birch Creek, including his previous service on the Development Committee, demonstrates his dedication to the center’s success.
“Birch Creek is thrilled to welcome such talented and experienced individuals to our Board of Trustees,” says Mona Christensen, Executive Director. “Their expertise in strategic planning, community development, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to provide world-class, performance-based music education to students from across the country. With their help, Birch Creek’s future shines brighter than ever.”
With heartfelt gratitude, we extend special thanks to three outgoing board members: Lyn Huber, who served as Secretary on Birch Creek’s Executive Committee, and Ray Moulis, who was instrumental on the Finance, Investment, Governance & ByLaws, and Human Resources Committees, for their dedicated service over the past six years. We also thank Bob Lindahl, who contributed to the Development, Faculty Liaison, and Long Range Planning Committees during his three-year term. Finally, we honor the memory of Miriam Erickson, whose remarkable contributions as board president and her extensive committee work since 1999 have left a lasting legacy at Birch Creek. With these legacies and our new board members, Birch Creek’s future shines brighter than ever.
