Birch Creek Unveils Exciting Lineup for 2024 Fall Concert Series Featuring Spyro Gyra Tribute, World Class Artists and Guest Performers
EGG HARBOR, Wis. (August 13, 2024) – Birch Creek announces its highly anticipated 2024 Fall Concert Series, showcasing a diverse array of musical genres. This year’s concert dates include six remarkable concerts and Birch Creek’s annual fundraiser featuring a Spyro Gyra Tribute, sponsored by the Associates Volunteers. The world-class faculty performing artists of Birch Creek and guest performers return for Saturday evening concerts that are not to be missed.
The series begins September 7 with the return of Talk of the Town, featuring Kevin Van Ess and his Dixieland Jazz Band. This nationally recognized Bourbon Street Dixieland Jazz group is back to fill the air with infectious energy and upbeat rhythms. Van Ess, a highly sought-after clarinetist from Wisconsin, has performed with Pete Fountain, Bob Hope and many other sensational artists. A typical Talk of the Town performance will include renditions of New Orleans-style crowd favorites such as “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and “Bourbon Street Blues.”
Get ready for a night of laughter and musical brilliance on September 14! Birch Creek Symphony faculty, Jodie DeSalvo, piano, and special guest Colin Welford will battle it out on two pianos in a hilarious and unforgettable performance. Prepare to be amazed by the incredible talent and quick wit of these master performers.
The Marty Robinson Jazz Quartet will showcase the art of jazz standards with their signature style on September 21. Featuring exceptional musicians from the Fox Valley, Marty Robinson trumpet; Dane Richeson drums; Mark Urness bass and Mike Kubicki piano, the quartet will deliver a performance that is both intimate and exhilarating. From the iconic “Autumn Leaves” to other beloved classics, this concert is a must-see for jazz enthusiasts of all ages.
Percussion program director Dan Moore is featured with The Road Scholars: Spyro Gyra Tribute for the Birch Creek’s Associates Volunteers annual fundraiser on October 12. The Road Scholars pay homage to the legendary Spyro Gyra, delivering an unforgettable performance that captures the essence of jazz fusion. Experience an electrifying musical journey, with social time at 5:30 PM, hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 PM catered by Alexander’s, Fish Creek, and the concert at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $95 per person, with proceeds benefiting Birch Creek students.
On December 7, ring in the holiday season with a cherished tradition in Juniper Hall: a 2:30 PM Matinee Family Concert with free admission for children under 11, followed by a 7:00 PM performance. Both feature Birch Creek’s Symphony Brass, Dan Moore, Percussion Program Director and mallet virtuoso, Door County’s Community Bell Choir and guest performers.
