Birch Creek Music Performance Center Announces Exciting Jazz Concert Series

EGG HARBOR, Wis. (July 2, 2024) – Birch Creek Music Performance Center is thrilled to present an exhilarating series of jazz concerts this summer. Beginning on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, and continuing through early August, the Birch Creek Jazz Faculty Orchestra will dazzle audiences with their chemistry, charisma, and exceptional musicianship. These nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians will perform with talented Jazz I and Jazz II student combos, who will start each evening with pre-concert music in the Kane Gazebo, followed by student big band jazz ensembles in the Dutton Concert Barn.

The concert series launches on July 17 with "Swing into Summer," starting at 7:00 PM. Concertgoers will enjoy an evening filled with dynamic performances that highlight the best of Big Band Jazz music. The following evening, July 18, brings "Basie, Miller, and Ellington," offering a tribute to these legendary jazz icons. Another "Basie, Miller, and Ellington" concert takes place on July 19, followed by "Swing into Summer" on July 20. Both events promise to deliver exceptional jazz performances.

On July 24, audiences can look forward to "The Styles and Sounds of Big Band Jazz," followed by "The Joyous Sounds of Swing" on both July 25 and July 26. July 27 features a special "Big Band Jazz I Family Concert" sponsored by the Town of Egg Harbor at 1:00 PM, which is free to the public, and another evening concert at 7:00 PM.

The series continues into August with "Swing and The American Songbook" on July 31 and August 3, and "Jazz & Blues: Big Band Style" on August 1 and 2. The following week, fans can enjoy "Big Band Jazz Summer Favorites" on August 7, and "Swing, Blues, and Big Band Jazz" on both August 8 and 9. The series concludes with a "Big Band Jazz II Family Concert" at 1:00 PM on August 10, also sponsored by the Town of Egg Harbor, and an evening of "Big Band Jazz Summer Favorites" at 7:00 PM.

Adding to the excitement, all-time favorite performers will return for concerts with the Birch Creek Jazz Orchestra. From July 17-27, audiences will be treated to the vocal talents of Katie Ernst. From August 7-10, Mardra Thomas (vocals) and Reggie Thomas (piano) will join the performances, along with Jeff Campbell (bass) who will be performing throughout the entire four-week series.
