Birch Creek Announces 2023 Summer Jazz Ambassador Concerts
EGG HARBOR, Wis. (June 28, 2023) – Birch Creek Music Performance Center is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 2023 season of the summer Jazz Ambassador concerts. Featuring the talented Birch Creek Jazz Ambassadors, a group of exceptional jazz students, this series of performances will take place at various venues throughout Door County from mid-July to mid-August.
Selected through a rigorous audition process held at the beginning of each jazz session, the Jazz Ambassadors serve as Birch Creek's community outreach program. These advanced students showcase their remarkable skills and passion for jazz music through an intensive concert schedule. This invaluable experience allows them to develop essential skills as traveling musicians. Under the direction of esteemed Birch Creek faculty members, the Jazz I Ambassadors are led by Katie Ernst, a renowned bassist and jazz vocalist from Naperville, IL, while Jazz II Ambassadors are guided by Marty Robinson, a talented trumpet player from Oshkosh, WI.
Mona Christensen, the Executive Director of Birch Creek Music Performance Center, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "The Jazz Ambassador Concert Series is an embodiment of our mission to cultivate exceptional young musicians and provide them with transformative experiences. These concerts not only offer a platform for our students to showcase their remarkable talents but also foster their growth as emerging artists. In addition to the Ambassador concerts, Birch Creek will host a series of jazz concerts at its Music Performance Center every Wednesday through Saturday every week from July 18 to August 12.
Birch Creek Music Performance Center celebrates its 48th year as Door County’s Residential Summer Music Academy in Egg Harbor, WI, for advanced student musicians. With a performance emphasis, students are taught by nationally known performers and educators during the day and perform alongside them in concerts at night. Four sessions focus on Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music; Symphony, and Big Band Jazz. Proceeds from all Birch Creek events and concerts provide support for Birch Creek students.
